Position of Preposition

Preposition अधिकांशत: अपने Object से पहले प्रयोग किए जाते हैं। जैसे-

I am at home.
मैं घर पर हूं।
He is in his office.
वह अपने कार्यालय में है।
She comes from Kolkata. 
वह कोलकाता से आती है।

ऊपर दिए गए वाक्यों में at, in, from prepositions हैं जो अपने Objects ( home, office, Kolkata) से पहले प्रयुक्त हुए हैं।

एक Preposition के दो या दो से अधिक Objects सकते हैं।

ऐसी स्थिति में Prepositionका प्रयोग उन सभी Objects से पहले होता है। जैसे-

I am very fond of grapes, banana and apples. 
मुझे अंगूर, केला और सेब बहुत पसंद हैं।

लेकिन निम्नलिखित दशाओं में Preposition का प्रयोग Object के बाद करते हैं। जैसे-

1.  जब Object Relative Pronoun ‘that’ हो तो Preposition वाक्य के अंत में लगाते हैं। जैसे-

This is the book that you asked for.
यह वह पुस्तक है जो आपने मांगी थी।
I know the man that you were talking to.
मैं उस आदमी को जानता हूं जिससे आप बात कर रहे थे।

2. यदि Object छुपा हुआ Relative Pronoun  हो तो भी Preposition का प्रयोग वाक्य के अंत में करते हैं। जैसे-

That is the man (whom) I was speaking of.
यही वह आदमी है जिसके बारे में मैं बोल रहा था।
There is the book  (that) you were looking for. 
वहां किताब है जिसकी आपको तलाश थी।

ऊपर दिए गए वाक्यों में  whom और that छुपे हुए हैं।

3. जब Object कोई Interrogative Pronoun (who/whom,what/which) हो तो Preposition वाक्य के अंत में लगाते हैं। जैसे- 

What are you looking for?
तुम क्या ढूंढ रहे हो?
Whom are you going with?
तुम किसके साथ जा रहे हो?

4. कभी कभी जोर देने के लिए Object का प्रयोग वाक्य के शुरू में करते हैं तो ऐसी स्थिति में Preposition का प्रयोग वाक्य के अंत में होता है। जैसे-

This I insist on.
That you must speak out.
